Upgrade a Java project

For a Maven project that already has tests. The result is that project compiling against current modular SHAFT, with one test run. You need JDK 25, Maven or mvnw, and Python 3.9+ as python. Commit or stash local edits first.

Steps

  1. From the project root, follow Run the upgrade through the download and the plan prompt. Answer y only after you read the plan.
  2. Keep the default basic type unless you intentionally want Selenium or Appium session code rewritten. The same page owns session and full.
  3. Run one test:
mvn test
mvn test

The check is a compile plus a test count above zero. If Maven reports Total: 0, the Surefire provider note on Install SHAFT applies.

What the upgrader guarantees is background: How the upgrade works. Flags and coordinates: Upgrade reference.
